Green Party Of Ontario

The Green Party of Ontario is committed to building a sustainable, equitable, and prosperous future for the province. Our platform focuses on addressing climate change, protecting natural spaces, strengthening healthcare, creating affordable housing, fostering green economic development, and ensuring transparent governance. Below are key policies that highlight our vision for Ontario, grounded in actionable strategies and a commitment to accountability and well-being for all Ontarians.
Cost of Living
  • We’ll take immediate action to lower the cost of living for everyday Ontarians. We’ll introduce strict anti-gouging and collusion laws to stop grocery corporations from gouging people on their grocery bills. We’ll increase the minimum wage to help workers, and we’ll cut taxes for people making under $65K.
  • We’ll protect Ontario’s economy from tariff threats by making it more self-sufficient. We’ll invest in our food and farming sector, protect the land that feeds us from land speculators, implement a buy Ontario strategy to support local farmers and small business owners, and create more jobs in the clean energy economy.

Protecting Ontario’s Healthcare System
  • We’ll invest in our health care system by hiring 3,500 more doctors so everyone has a primary care giver within 3-4 years. We’ll invest in mental health and addictions care, close the rural health care gap by increasing provincial funding for rural hospitals, and stop the privatization of our health care system.
  • In the next few years, one in five people in this country will be over the age of sixty-five. We have a plan to improve care in long term care and ensure that our elders are not treated as just another revenue stream by private investors. We will build 48,000 non profit long-term care spaces by 2029 to meet growing demand and phase out for profit care.

Inclusive, High-quality, and Accessible Education
  • The number one way to invest in our children’s future is by funding schools, teachers and education workers. Doug Ford has cut education funding by a staggering $3.1 billion since 2018 – that’s $1,500 per student. Adjusted for inflation, it’s the lowest per pupil funding in over 10 years. We need to immediately increase per-student funding by $1,500 to make up for the $3.1 bill

Combating Urban Sprawl / Protecting Nature, Farmland, and Green Spaces
  • Protect the places we love. We’ll build more homes inside existing urban boundaries to avoid urban sprawl, we’ll create new jobs and phase out fossil fuels by moving towards a clean energy economy, and we’ll strengthen like the Endangered Species Act and protect forests, wetlands, and peatlands.

Affordable Housing
  • We’ll end Ontario’s housing crisis by building 2 million more homes. We’ll also make it easier for young Ontarians to finally buy their first home by removing unnecessary fees and taxes on homes within urban boundaries.

Governance Oversight / Policy Accountability Watch
  • To enhance transparency and accountability in government, we must strengthen the roles of the Auditor General and Integrity Commissioner, ensuring they have the authority and resources to conduct thorough investigations. Establishing independent oversight bodies to monitor government policies and spending will help prevent mismanagement and promote responsible governance. Stricter lobbying rules and conflict-of-interest guidelines are essential to reducing undue influence and ensuring that decision-making serves the public interest. Additionally, requiring regular reporting on progress toward climate and social goals will hold leaders accountable for their commitments. Finally, meaningful public consultations must be prioritized to ensure that policies reflect the needs and concerns of the communities they impact.

My campaign is funded by grassroots supporters like you. With your help, we can protect and strengthen the Ontario healthcare system and build an Ontario where we tackle housing affordability, social issues and act on climate threats.
